What to see?
Endemics: Elfin Woods Warbler, Tody, Woodpecker, Tanager, Spindalis, Screech Owl, Emerald, Green Mango, Bullfinch, Lizard
Cuckoo, Flycatcher, Adelaide´s Warbler, Yellow-shouldered Blackbird, Oriole, Nightjar, and Vireo; plus near endemics: Loggerhead
Kingbird, Antillean Euphonia, Lesser Antillean Pewee. Also, West Indies Whistling Duck, Masked Duck; plus Caribbean specialties,
shorebirds, gulls, terns, and the five species of hummingbirds nesting in Puerto Rico.
COMBO Endemic Bird Trail
The Endemic Bird Trail Combo offers the very best of the
eastern and western regions with a local resident.
You will spend the first two nights in the eastern tip looking
for approximately 12 endemics, plus the five hummingbirds
that nest in Puerto Rico. Then, we drive to the west of the
mainland, where we will stay for two more nights, looking for
specialties of the region, including the Elfin-woods Warbler,
and the Nightjar. Birding spots? El Yunque National Forest,
Roosevelt Roads Old Naval Station, Maricao, La Parguera,
Guánica, Cabo Rojo, just to mention a few sites.
